The Fruits that
we Love
Recently, popular fiction story writer
Binmaa Ibrahim Waheed published a fiction story named “aharenge hiyaalee
dhuniye” at popular online news website mihaaru.com. Although, Binmaa is loved
by most of his readers, some readers reacted negatively to this
fiction due to its content that conveys a message like the quality of life in
outer islands is low in comparison with Male’ City. Moreover, the story
describes an outer island as a place where no delicious fruits are available as
well as no beautiful beaches. The outer islands of the Maldives are famous for its beautiful beaches and coral reefs. In reality, almost all Maldivians love
the taste of local fruits and vegetables grown in the Maldives. These fruits
and vegetables are not only tasty, but also very nutritious.
While browsing the internet for a
scientific name and common name of a rarely grown plant in my island, I came
across several articles that provide details about different fruits grown
across the world. One such article is the plants that fruits come from. The
interesting thing about the article is it gives details about some of the
fruits that are grown in our country. These fruits include, water melon, pomegranate,
mango, papaya, pine apple, coconut tree and banana tree. The article also
describes some fruits that are not commonly grown in the Maldives like olive,
date, juniper berry, plum, avocado, and grape fruit. At the beginning of the
article, the author described all these fruits as fruits that many people know
and love. Therefore, it is evident that many people across the world love the
taste of our local fruits. Here, I am providing the link to this interesting
article http://twistedsifter.com/2012/12/the-plants-that-fruits-come-from/
